GCM Band Directors
Richard Lewis has served as the director of the Patriot Marching Band and the wind ensemble since the school's opening in 2008. He also team teaches with the Highlands Junior High School Band. He is a member of TMEA, TBA, and TMAA. He graduated from Evangel University in 1993, and enjoys hiking, traveling, and fishing with his wife Aleesa and son Matthew.
James Bourdier has been involved in music and teaching for many years. He started taking piano at age eight and percussion at ten. He was selected to the Texas All-State Band three years (percussion) and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX in 1993. After four years of full-time teaching, and a year of graduate studies at the University of North Texas, he moved to Houston and entered the world of music retail. During his seven years in Houston, Mr. Bourdier performed on drums, percussion, keyboards, and trombone with many diverse bands including Loco Motif, Soular Slide, Slop Jar Junior, Qwest, and The Slags. He moved to Baton Rouge in 2004, and has continued to showcase his diverse talents with Ned Fasullo and the Fabulous Big Band Orchestra, The Band Named Sue, The Baton Rouge Concert Band, and Ben Bell & The Stardust Boys. Mr. Bourdier has been teaching full time the past three years, and is excited to be joining the staff at Goose Creek Memorial High School. He is married, and has a three year old daughter, and a one year old son.
